I was lucky enough to be able to celebrate Halloween this year.
It's one of my favourite occasions (me being my morbid self and all),
but I never quite had a chance to celebrate it since Singapore doesn't really have that tradition.
This year, I actually got to go visit Sentosa's Spooktacular, where they had an Asian Horror themed haunted house(s) event.
Thank you to the delicious pork cheek Yish! (꒪ω꒪υ)
My new AT headphones, also thanks to Yishhh.
I surmise he was being annoying as usual.
..My eyes : his = 2 : 1. No kidding.
Photos from the event itself!
We weren't allowed to take photos within each trail, but there are always 'ambience ghosts' whom I've taken to call the walkers that loiter around screaming at passerbys but always happy to camwhore with you.
Ippen, shinde miru? Also my hair was crap because of the heat.
Overall I'd say the event was okay, I freaked out at a couple of the trails pretty badly, but ended up trolling the rest of the ghosts. I really have to give a big thumbs-up to the students (I presume?) who were working as the ghosts and helpers though, you could tell they were trying their best and very enthusiastic in what they were doing too.
Visited the Singapore Toys, Games and Comics Convention again this year, with Yish, as well as Xero, Sora and Kaya jie! It was pretty different from the previous years where there were stronger focus on Japanese-influenced stuff like Bandai toys, animanga, etc - this year instead there were a lot more of illustrators, artists and designers all over the world. Which, at first glance, might be unappealing to most animanga fans but I actually found myself being more interested in the booths this year than before.
We bought our tickets from PlayImaginative which gave us discounts at the booth, so being the naturally kiasu people our first stop was to check out their products.
gloomy bear - one of my favourite character!
I'm eyeing that baby gloomy in a box you see in the left corner..
one of the many cool fan-designed mickey mouse figurines on display
Then came one of my unexpected highlights of the event: meeting my idol. I'd been in love with tokidoki's designs ever since I became acquainted with the design industry, and Simone Legno's story about how he started it all used to be a great source of motivation for me. I'd done a few projects in the past due to being inspired by him, and never would I have thought I'd be able to meet him in person.
when I heard that he was having an autograph session right there,
I rushed to buy a t-shirt to get it signed!
but I was too shy and nervous to talk to him in person,
so I got yish to take this photo for me
adorable doodoo doll mascot! he seemed to have trouble walking though
found this image amusing. pyramid head resting in a corner, tired of killing?
hi from day 2
Another highlight of the event: Kipi! She was one of the first cosplayers who got me interested in the whole hobby to begin with, and I came early just to see her when I heard she'd be there. Didn't manage to get an autograph or picture with her though, the queue of fans lining up for that was so long. And there'd been so many scandals in the past about how she's actually ugly and horribly photoshopped, but that day definitely proved all those rumours wrong. (☄ฺ◣д◢)☄
Went to find the scandalous Xero & Sora who were lunching at Umi Sushi.
and then all the ones with a camera started going crazy (◞‸ლ)
Wayyyy overdued post, I'm sorry! I went for two events this year: Cosfest 2011 (25 & 26 June) at Downtown East and Singapore Toys, Games and Comic Convention 2011 (20 - 21 Aug) at Suntec! Here's the first!
Thinking back, this is already my third or fourth year attending Cosfest? I still remember back when I used to have lunch at Downtown East (I live nearby) I'd always be in awe of all the cosplayers in their full glory outside D'Marquee. Well this year was different, because it was my first year actually cosplaying at the event itself, whereas previous years I only attended as a bystander of sorts.
I attended Day 1 with my faithful slave, my dear Kaya jie, and also met two people - Xero & Sora! Feels a bit weird that I actually only properly met them this year, since I've known Xero through an online community for awhile.

day 2! we met the most adorable charlotte (madomagi) cosplayers ever! I wanted to bring her home~
and then I met up with another bunch of friends - here's angie as colonello from khr!
I love that gun.
one of the most amazing cosplays of that day?
how pretty..
..I have no idea what everyone was looking at.
the disappearance of hatsune miku.
I'd honestly say I did quite a bad Miku that day and I probably won't be returning to Miku for a little while, but I had a lot of fun as compared to previous years. Guess the company's all that matters!
